Refurbished GE Discovery VCT 64 PET/CT (8x6 BGO) — GE Healthcare's 64-slice PET/CT pairing the LightSpeed VCT-class 64-slice CT gantry with a BGO (bismuth germanate) PET detector ring in an 8x6 module configuration. Sits in the BGO family between the Discovery STE 16 and the later Discovery 600/610 generation, and was the go-to choice for programs that wanted a real diagnostic-quality 64-slice CT base for combined cardiac, vascular, and oncology imaging without paying for LYSO Time-of-Flight performance. Typical clinical use cases are FDG oncology staging and restaging, lymphoma follow-up, lung-nodule and head-and-neck workups, cardiac viability and perfusion, and any program where the diagnostic CT side of the exam is as important as the PET acquisition. Compared to the Discovery STE 16, the VCT 64 brings a meaningfully stronger CT platform and faster volumetric coverage. Compared to the Discovery 600/610, it predates MotionFree and VUE Point HD reconstruction — trading those modern PET workflow improvements for a substantially lower acquisition cost. Compared to the Discovery 690/710 LYSO TOF systems, the VCT gives up Time-of-Flight physics and the LYSO sensitivity bump, but ships at a fraction of the capital cost and runs on a mature GE field-service ecosystem with deep parts depth.
